An ivory netsuke of a recumbent male shishi

By Okatomo, Kyoto, late 18th/early 19th century
Lying with its head turned back to the right and its legs drawn in, forming a compact composition in slightly-worn and well-toned ivory, the eye pupils inlaid, signed in a rectangular reserve Okatomo. 4.2cm (1 5/8in).
