An ivory netsuke of a shishi

Kyoto, late 18th century
Seated, scratching behind its right ear with its hind paw and with open mouth containing a loose ball, the tail and mane carved with heavy curls and the smooth body with a knobbly surface, the slightly-worn ivory bears a good patina and the eye pupils are inlaid, unsigned. 6cm (2 3/8in)
