A Meissen cup and saucer, circa 1745-50
The cup painted with a Kauffahrtei of merchants at a quayside with their wares, the ear-shaped handle highlighted in gold, the saucer painted with two figures in a landscape with a church spire in the distance, both framed by brightly painted scrollwork, trellis and foliate cartouches hung with garlands, gilt-edged rims, crossed swords in underglaze-blue and painter's mark W in puce to both, impressed 24 to cup and 54 to saucer (haircrack at handle) (2)
