inscribed and dated 'AEtatis 26../Ao 1618' and with the sitter's coat-of-arms (upper right)

The sitter is most probably Alida, the daughter of Arent Jacobsz. van der Graeff, a member of the wealthy brewing family and a powerful member of the ruling élite of Delft. In 1618, the same year as the present portrait, Arent Jacobsz. and his wife, Sara, sat to Michiel van Mierevelt and these portraits can now be found in the Stedelijk Museum Het Prinsenhof, Delft.
