A gold lacquer rectangular kobako (small box) and cover
Meiji Period
Containing a fitted, en-suite, interior tray, embellished in gold and iro-e hiramakie and takamakie with details of aogai, the cover with three kiri-mon floating around a chatsubo modelled with a simulated rope-tied cloth hanging over the shoulder, with details rendered in uwagusuri, imitating glaze, the interior tray lacquered with a partially-rolled sudare (bamboo blind) against a rattan ground, the outside edges of the box and base with bands of hexagonal motifs, unsigned. 5cm x 10.5cm x 8.5cm (2in x 4 1/8in x 3 5/8in).
