A gold lacquer two-case inro

19th century
Of circular form, the nashiji ground embellished with hirame, each side bearing a circular panel decorated with an open fan with scenes from the Genji monogatari (the Tale of Genji) in gold takamakie with details of roiro and kirigane, the interior of nashiji, unsigned; with a ceramic netsuke of a recumbent dog, unsigned. 8.9cm (3½in).
