An ivory netsuke of a turtle on a rock

By Ransen, Kyoto, 19th century
The turtle climbing over an irregularly-shaped rock which is carved beneath with kiku-mon among karakusa, the well-toned ivory is slightly worn and the eyes are inlaid, signed in a rectangular reserve Ransen. 4.2cm (1 5/8in).
