A large Imari baluster jar
Circa 1720
Painted in coloured enamels, iron-red, gilt and underglaze-blue, with three panels of figures besides thatched dwellings within a mountainous river landscape, all reserved on a ground of iron-red with flowers and scrolling foliage, the shoulder with three lobed panels of open-winged stylised birds reserved on kiku-heads amongst karakusa. 39cm (15 5/16in) high.
