A kawari kabuto and mask
Mid Edo Period, 18th century
The simple iron bowl built up to form a naga eboshi with a modeled demons head on the front, the surface of the bowl with a textured finish lacquered gold. On either side a raised red-lacquered bonji for Dai Nichi Nyorai. A Hineno jikoro gold-lacquered and laced in sugake odoshi, the fukigaeshi lacquered-red, together with a hambo matching the helmet.
