A composite armour
Mid to late Edo Period, 18th/19th century
Comprising an eighteen-plate russet-iron suji bachi kabuto well made and finished with an indistinct signature, the maedate of a gilded wood shachihoko, a Hineno jikoro of five lame black-lacquered itamono laced in blue sugake style, a well-formed russet iron hambo, chu sode of kiritsuke kozane black-lacquered and laced in dark blue kebiki odoshi; the ni mai tachi do laced overall in dark blue kebiki style with the character kokoro (heart) worked into the lacing on the front in white lacing and silver lacquer; black-lacquered shino gote, kawara haidate and shino suneate, together with an armour box and stand.
