A hishitoji do tosei gusoku armour

Mid-late Edo Period, 18th/19th century
The twelve-plate hoshi bachi kabuto russet lacquered and fitted with a six-lame leather-covered Hineno jikoro, on the front a maedate of a manji in gilt metal and on either side wakidate of gilt leather flames. The simple hanbo russet lacquered. The ni mai do russet lacquered with white leather hishinui each printed with red and black dots, on the front a green fabric pouch, the kusazuri unusually divided into twelve sections with red lacquered hishinui. A pair of ko sode associated, laced in bands of blue, red, mauve, black and green, ikada gote, kawara haidate shino suneate. Together with an armour box and wood stand.
