By Nakagawa Itteki (1835-1885), 19th century
Bearing an ishime ground, inlaid with a nightingale flying past the crescent moon, in gold and shibuichi takazogan, signed Nakagawa Itteki; with wood storage box.

For the maker, see Robert Haynes, The Index of Sword Fittings and Associated Artists, no.H01985. He was the younger brother of Shoami Katsuyoshi, and lived in Kyoto, later Edo, where he studied under Goto Ichijo.
