Footnotes

Stainforth, primarily a painter of Thoroughbred racehorses, visited his cousin's cattle-station in North Queensland in 1908 and settled in Sydney in 1911. He remained in Australia until 1928, when he moved to New Zealand before returning to England in 1930.

Singleton is situated on the banks of the Hunter River, approximately 200km north-west of Sydney.
