A 6-inch tell-tale compass in the form of a crown

a dry card compass with a 6-inch (15.2 cm.) face, the card signed J.M. Kleman. Fecit. Amsterdam. and decorated with a flower at the center of the card, and the points of the compass rose, divided into 10 degree increments, the bowl in brass and decorated with a seven (7) pointed foliate crown, with a central gimbal with a screw mount [appears to be the original screw and screw head].
9-1/2 x 9 in. (24.1 x 22.8 cm.) maximum height x diameter.

Jan Maarten Kleman was a venerated Dutch instrument maker who sold instruments to the Royal household of King Louis Napoleon in 1808 and King William Frederic I in 1815.
