An American clock incorporating an American globe in a Queen Anne/Chippendale style case with molded swan's-neck pediment surmounted by a central turned finial, with two acorn pendants on either side, at the center a calibrated paper time dial above a six-inch Joslin globe; the lower section with a rectangular door inset with a curved and shaped glass window revealing a small round dial, and opening brass knob to reveal brass geared clock works, all raised on a molded mahogany plinth. The globe with the cartouche inscribed: JOSLIN'S/ Six Inch/ Terrestrial Globe,/Containing the latest Discoveries./BOSTON,/Gilman Joslin./Drawn and Engraved by W.B. Annin.; Alaska is shown as Russian America, indicating a date before 1867.
