A pale green jade carving of a Buddhistic lion

17th/18th century
The recumbent feline finely carved with a large head with a prominent forehead above bulging eyes, holding a leafy blossoming lotus sprig in its mouth, with a finely incised mane and tail flicked over one side, the feet well carved with sharp claws, the stone of pale green tone with minor russet and yellowish inclusions, wood stand.
7.6cm (3in) wide (2).
