A fine pale green jade carving of a deer

17th/18th century
The recumbent animal well carved with its head turned towards the back, holding a scrolling lotus sprig in its mouth bearing a large flowering blossom resting on its back, the head with a lingzhi-fungus-shaped horn between the ears, the short tail with finely-denoted hide, the front left leg slightly raised and the others tucked underneath, the hooves finely carved, the stone of pale green tone with minor russet inclusions, wood stand. 8.3cm (3¼in) wide (2).
