A carved wood koshirae for a ko-wakizashi

19th century
Of shallow sori form, carved in relief with two sennin engaged in conversation beside a pine tree, signed Moryusai Toshifumi (Sebun) cho with kao; with associated shibuichi fittings, the mokko tsuba inlaid in iroe takazogan with Autumn plants, unsigned; the kozuka engraved and inlaid with travellers crossing a bridge, signed Hosono Sozaemon Masamori; the fuchi-gashira inlaid with okina and a mask box, signed Toshinsai Hanmi with kao; the mixed-metal menuki each of three figures on a large waraji. 49cm (19¼in) long.
