Late 19th century
Of hon-zukuri, iori-mune, chu-kissaki, torii-zori, forged in itame mixed with mokume-hada in jinie, the tempered edge choji-midare changing to ko-midare approaching the yokote on the omote side, the tip jizo-boshi, the kuri-jiri tang ubu with kesho file marks and one hole, one-piece copper habaki, unsigned; with koshirae: a black-lacquer saya decorated with crushed shell, the tsuka fitted with gilt-metal paulownia-crest menuki and shakudo nanakoji fuchi-gashira with paulownia in gold takazogan, the iron mokko tsuba carved with maple leaves and cherry blossoms floating on waves in sunken and raised relief. The blade 70.2cm (27 5/8in) long.
