Meiji Period
A finely-constructed, hollow model of an ox standing with its head turned to the right, the hairwork on the body worked in silver wire whilst the arched saddle forms a cover and is pierced with apertures in the form of shippo-tsunagi, to emit the incense smoke, a gold rope is threaded through the beast's nose, the cloven hooves, horns and ears of silvered metal, with fitted interior movable liner, unsigned. 33cm (13in) long.
