Meiji Period
The elegant shogi-ban is raised on four integral, low, bulbous legs and finely embellished on all four sides in gold takamakie, kirigane and e-nashiji, with a stream meandering among rockwork, with assorted shells inlaid in mother-of-pearl and other coloured semi-precious stones strewn along the shore on a roiro ground, with forty-one (one surplus piece) Imari porcelain wedge-shaped pieces of slightly different sizes contained in its original tomobako and two wood storage boxes. 16.5cm x 35cm x 32cm (6½in x 13¾in x 12½in).
