A shikimeji-odoshi go mai tachi do tosei gusoku armour

Edo Period, 18th/19th century
The thirty-two-plate hoshi bachi of russet iron with unusually long hoshi, the peak mounted with a maedate of gilt horns, to the rear a hineno jikoro. A menpo with stiff hair moustache and chin tufts, ko sode, ikada gote, wakibiki, kawara haidate and shino suneate. The go mai do with gold lacquered kusazuri edged with black bear fur, on the back a sashimono in the form of a large gilded wood circle. Constructed overall of kiritsuke kozane which is for the most part black lacquered and laced with a chequer pattern of mauve and white shikimeji odoshi. Together with two armour boxes and a wood stand.
