A pair of gold menuki

By Kikuoka Mitsuyuki (1750-1800), late 18th century
Each in the form of a running horse, its eyes of shakudo, signed Kikuoka Mitsuyuki. 3½cm (1 3/8in). (2).

The maker is probably that mentioned by R.Haynes, Index no. H 05606. He was a student of Yanagawa Naomitsu and is considered the founder of the Kikuoka School.
