A Shin-Shinto katana

By Sa Yasuchika, dated 1869
The blade of shinogi-zukuri form, shallow zori, sugu-ba of nie with indistinct sunagashi and itame-hada; the ubu-nakago signed and dated Chikuzen no kuni ju Sa Yasuchika saku, Meiji ni-nen hachi gatsuhi (August 1869); with koshirae: the saya of Negoro lacquer; the Mito tsuba of iron, with a tiger and dragon among clouds; the fuchi-gashira and kojiri of copper, engraved with o-mon, unsigned. The blade 81.1cm (31 7/8in) long.
