A late 17th century walnut marquetry longcase clock

The square topped hood with later caddy top over three-quarter and quarter columns over a long door with three shaped panels of bird-inhabited floral marquetry centered by a lenticle, within a D-moulded edge and inlaid trunk border, on a matching (reduced) base, the 11 inch square brass dial with crown and cherub spandrels enclosing a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with matted centre, subsidiary seconds and chamfered decorated date aperture, the movement with four knopped and finned pillars, the anchor escapement with inside countwheel strike on a bell, with rear-mounted detent 2.16m.
