A late 17th century marquetry inlaid walnut longcase clock

The hood with stepped cornice over a repousse brass fret and spirally twisted columns, the trunk inlaid with three panels of bird-inhabited foliage and centred by a circular lenticle, on a similar base raised on later bun feet, the 11 inch square brass dial with winged cherubs head spandrels linked by engraved foliage and enclosing the Roman chapter ring with distinctive Arabic five-minute numerals, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial, ringed winding squares and engraved chamfered date aperture, the movement united by four knopped pillars, anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike on a bell 205cms (6ft 9ins) high.
