The inverted bell top case surmounted by five brass ball finials over side handles, long arched fish scale sound frets to the sides and wooden quadrants to the front door, all on a moulded plinth, the 7.5 inch arched brass dial signed in a decorated boss over a silvered strike/silent lever, with mask spandrels enclosing the Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre, mock pendulum and date apertures, the movement united by seven substantial knopped pillars chiming the quarters on a nest of six bells and striking the hour on a single bell, with verge escapement and triple chain fusees, the backplate boldly engraved with symmetrical scrolls in a stylised wheatear border (some old alterations to the movement) 47cms (1ft 7ins) high.
