A good, small 19th century two day mahogany marine chronometer, circa 1835

Arnold & Dent, 84 Strand, London, No 1000.
The freesprung gilt movement with chain fusee and maintaining power to a blued steel helical hairspring terminating in a cut and compensated bimetallic balance with circular and keystone-shaped timing weights, to an Earnshaw type detent escapement, hung in a numbered brass gimballed bowl with fixing bracket set to the upper left hand corner of the case, the 3.5 inch signed and numbered silvered Roman dial with subsidiaries for state of wind and running seconds, under a domed glass with cast bezel and knurled edge, the three part case with circular number plaque to the centre section, the lower with polished brass handles and original key The case 14.5cms (5.75ins) wide.
