An Iwai school ni mai do tosei gusoku

Mid Edo Period, early 18th century
The black lacquered iron momonari hachi mounted in reverse of normal practice fitted with a hineno jikoro the shaped fukigaeshi with a gold lacquered myoga mon, on the front a maedate of gilt antlers. Black lacquered iron menpo with hair moustache and chin tuft and silvered teeth, ko sode of kiritsuke kozane, iron oda gote and iron shino suneate, iyozane haidate gold lacquered with a design of dragons in black and red. The ni mai do of nuinobe form with koshitori, the solid plates at the front back and sides covered with imported leather, on the back an ukezutsu. The plates of the shikoro yodarekake, do and kusazuri shape in the style called Hira-Yamamichi (even mountain path) black lacquered overall and laced in golden yellow kebiki and sugake style extensively mounted in shakudo. Together with an armour box and a wood stand. (2).
