Shimomura Kanzan (1873-1930)

Meiji Period
Kakejiku, in ink and colour on silk, depicting a Chinese scholar lying on a tiger rug draped over a stone bed, cooling off in the Summer evening, and gazing at the full moon, an attendant to his left holding a tray filled with watermelons, signed Kanzan hitsu with seal Soshin; with tomobako titled, inscribed and sealed by the artist, Kanzan jidai. 101cm x 43cm (39¾in x 17in).
