A bronze ovoid vase

Carved in low relief with three rodents crawling over a feather duster, alluding to the ritual observed on New Year's day Hatsune no tamabahaki, signed Yoshitani kansei, with wood stand and storage box inscribed on the reverse of the lid Kofuo-denka yori Jogu-denka e ...shin (Presented from Kofuo Serenity to Jogu Serenity), Meiji yonju-go nen ichi-gatsu tsuitachi nezumi-dosi nezumi-no-hi (on the first of January in Meiji 45 [1912], on the day of mouse in the year of mouse). 29.2cm (11½in) high.
