A large Kaga-Kutani vase

Painted by Nishimura Saichi, Meiji Period
Of bulbous ovoid form, suppported on three bracket feet and surmounted by a high domed cover with a large double shishi knop and the shoulders with double-dragon handles, painted around the sides with mandarin ducks on a stream among summer flowers, within elaborate borders of ho-o birds among flowers and clouds, the base signed Kaga Watano sei Nishimura Saichi byo. 78.8cm (31in).
