Watanabe Shotei (1850-1918)

Shijo School, Meiji/Taisho Period
Kakejiku, sanpukutsui (complete triptych), each painted in ink and colour on silk, the right scroll with a song thrush flying over clumps of nazuna; the centre scroll painted with a cockerel and hen at dawn, the left depicting a sparrow about to light upon a torigoya atop which several birds are foraging for food; all signed Shotei with seal Shotei, with wood storage box. Each 111cm x 41cm (43¾in x 16 1/8in). (4).
