Three similar fragments can be seen in the Musee du Louvre, Paris, acc. no. AF6287, E12489 and E12483 (Memorias Do Imperio Arabe, Exhibition Catalogue, Santiago de Compostela, 13th July to 27th September 2000, p. 87, nos. 13 and 14; and Ivoires de L'Orient Ancien aux Temps Modernes, Exhibition Catalogue, Paris, 23rd June to 30th August 2004, pp. 100 and 105, no. 109).
The decoration displays a strong Hellenistic influence and would indicate that these panels were produced in Alexandria, where there was a longstanding Greek tradition .
