An illuminated calligraphic panel incorporating the names of the Prophets and verses of the Qur'an
probably Northern Caucasus, late 19th Century

Arabic manuscript on paper, central medallion with the saying 'This is from the grace of my Lord' written in bold thuluth in black ink, flanked by small roundels each containing the name of a Prophet, lower panels with circular segments and cornerpieces containing verses from the Qur'an, interspersed with palmettes in the classical style, inner and outer margins richly decorated with intertwining floral and vegetal motifs in colours and gold, framed
540 x 458 mm.
