Ottoman Empire, 19th Century

Arabic manuscript on paper, 272 leaves, 15 lines to the page written in a cursive script in black ink with diacritics and vowel points in black and red, red roundels between verses, margins ruled in red, catchwords in wide outer borders, sura headings written in naskhi script in red, one double page of illumination decorated with vegetal motifs in the European style, some tears to outer borders crudely repaired, corners rather thumbed, colophon added at a later date states that this Qur'an was copied by Abdullah bin Thaniyan bin Ibrahim al-Ghanem at Baudar al-Kuwait, dated 19 Safar 1251/1835, brown morocco with stamped central medallion decorated with intertwining floral motifs, repaired, with flap
297 x 200 mm.
