probably Ottoman, 16th/17th Century

fine black morocco with stamped central medallions, cornerpieces and border panels decorated with floral motifs in gold, doublures of brown morocco richly decorated with leather filigree on a blue ground, with flap with similar decoration, some repairs; enclosing Juz VIII of an Ottoman Qur'an, Turkey, 19th Century, Arabic manuscript on paper, 17 leaves, 11 lines to the page written in clear naskhi script in black ink with diacritics in black and red, gold markers, inner margins ruled in gold, catchwords, sura heading written in thuluth script in red, some soiling, loose
binding 240 x 177 mm.; manuscript 238 x 173 mm.(2)
