Footnotes
‘Friendship’ was a common name used by all classes of vessel in the mid-nineteenth century, many of them brigs. It seems likely however that this work portrays the 267-ton brig noted in Lloyd’s Registers of Shipping as being a prize [of war] and which traded regularly out of the Tyne to London during the final years of George Chambers Senior’s life.
