The sword with fullered blade (lightly pitted) double edged towards the point and later etched on one side with the initials 'R.W.M.', copper hilt with D-shaped knuckle-guard and scrolling side-guard enclosing a fouled anchor (re-afixed at base), urn-shaped pommel, chequered ebony grip, in its tooled black leather scabbard (worn) with linear engraved copper mounts, the locket signed and fitted with frog stud, and retaining one suspension ring; the dirk with flattened diamond section tapering blade later etched 'R.W. Miller' and 'H.M.S. Theseus' at the forte, gilt-copper hilt with tapering grip engraved with bands of roping, circular guard with broad rim and bun-shaped pommel surmounted by a lion's mask, in its gilt-copper scabbard engraved with foliate scrolls and a panel containing a trophy of arms, two loose rings for suspension
